Bloggers and the law

Abstract

Like any other communicative activity blogging is regulated by the law. It is therefore essential that bloggers are aware of the relevant laws relating to intellectual property (particularly copyright and trademark law), defamation, privacy, media and journalism, and employment relations. This chapter will highlight some of the most important issues that can and have arisen in relation to blogs and the law. It goes without saying that law will pro-vide a challenge to and be challenged by the distributed, original and dynamic culture inherent in blogging.
